About Winamp Collectibles
A Winamp Collectible is a digital collectible that:
- Includes a link to your Original version of your Audio file, your master, a file that has not been normalized, equalized, or compressed
- Includes a link to legal terms that ensure you reserve all rights to the track
- Includes a link to a AAC compressed version of your Audio file to ease up remote listening
- Includes your cover for the track
- Includes metadata from your track such as title, description, music genre, and more (see track metadata below for the possible exhaustive list of information listed)
To improve yours and your fans' experience, Winamp makes use of Web3 technologies.
Every Winamp Collectible is an NFT and as a result, they come with:
- Proof of Authenticity, where the NFT serves as a digital certificate of authenticity, ensuring that the artwork is genuine and not a counterfeit
- Royalties, helping you, as a Creator receive a percentage of sales whenever the artwork is resold on secondary markets
- Immutable Provenance, where every sale or transfer of an NFT is recorded on the blockchain, creating a transparent and tamper-proof history of the artwork's ownership
- Rarity, ensuring scarcity in a way that's transparent and verifiable. In the case of Winamp Original, there will be only 1 original version of your artwork tied to the blockchain
- Digital Preservation: Unlike physical art which can degrade over time, digital artworks represented by NFTs can remain pristine indefinitely
- Marketplace: NFT marketplaces enable artists to reach a global audience without the need for traditional galleries or intermediaries. Winamp will only make sure your NFT gets listed on marketplaces that pay royalties.
Supported Marketplaces
Marketplaces are digital platforms where sellers and buyers come together to conduct transactions. In the context of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), it refers to online platforms where users can list, purchase, sell, or trade unique digital assets.
Currently, Winamp only supports Rarible ( https://rarible.com/ ) to ensure (best effort) that royalties are appropriately paid.
List, purchase, sales, trade may in result only happen peer-2-peer (OTC) or on the supported marketplaces listed above.
Minimum Requirements to Create a Collectible
To create an NFT, you will need:
- A cover
- A track (all rights reserved)
- A release (all rights reserved) with the track
- A description
- A price
- A digital wallet compatible with Ethereum (where we'll send the revenues). At present time we'll only support Metamask.
Legal
Before you proceed with the creation and sale of your Non-Fungible Token (NFT), it is imperative that you ensure you possess all necessary copyrights and/or commercial rights or appropriate authorizations for any works, including but not limited to Music, Artwork, or any other content, that you intend to include in your NFT.
To safeguard yourself and your project, we strongly advise that you take the following actions:
- Ensure that you hold the proper copyrights and/or commercial rights for all works you intend to feature in your NFT. If you are not the original creator of the content, make sure you have obtained explicit permission from the rightful copyright holders.
- If you are using content created by others, obtain written permission from the copyright holders that explicitly grants you the rights to use the content for the purpose of your NFT.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all permissions and licenses obtained. This documentation will serve as evidence that you have acted in good faith and taken the necessary steps to comply with copyright laws.
- Clearly indicate in your NFT listing the sources of any content used, as well as the nature of your rights to the content. This will help potential buyers make informed decisions.
Accuracy.
Albums and track titles should always match the cover image titles as accurately as possible without any class of abbreviation. Once the nft created, you will not be able to change nor the title, nor the description, nor anything else. It is set in stone, much like standard distribution.
Additional information.
All titles of releases and tracks and additional information such as description will be made public. Updates won't be possible. Name and detail your NFT accordingly.
Version information.
Unlike distribution release, the title may include additional information such as “Original Version”, “Album Version”, “Original Mix”, "Remix", "Demo" etc.
References to physical content, digital content, or content which is not included.
The album titles should not include terms referring to contents which are not included in the NFT release , such as physical formats, digital formats or geographic location. E.g.: "Booklet Included".

Notes
Having two Winamp Originals Collectibles with the same track is impossible. Each track can only be associated with one NFT.
Primary Sale price for collectibles is set to USDC. USDC is a fully backed, regulated, MiCA-compliant digital currency that can be redeemed 1:1 for US dollars. In short, USDC is a digital dollar. Read more here: https://www.circle.com/en/usdc.
Setting a Price for Winamp Collectibles
Setting the right price for your Winamp Original Collectible is a personal decision but we recommend you consider the following few factors..
- Market Insight: On average, NFTs on Rarible are currently selling for around 182 USD and on Opensea 95$. This can give you a starting point.
- Uniqueness: Remember, for every track, there's only one Winamp original collectible. How much do you believe your Master Audio Track is worth?
- Engage Your Audience: Consider asking your fans. They might provide insights on how much they're willing to pay.
- Future Possibilities: In the future, we'll offer the option to create limited editions of your tracks. While these will still be rare, like limited-edition vinyl records, they won't be as unique as your master track.
Ultimately, choose a price that reflects the value and rarity of your collectible.
Where will my Collectible be stored?
The data from your digital collectible is stored as follows:
- The track details (metadata) are stored in the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), a global decentralized storage system;
- The unique certificate that proves your ownership is safely kept on the Ethereum network, using the ERC1155 token standard;
- The media (covers, sounds, ...) are made available by Winamp via a CDN provider.
So, while the art is in one digital place, the proof of ownership is in another. Your proof of ownership is super secure, the collectible is the token and the token will be yours even if Winamp disappears.
The original audio media, with the purest sound, without normalization, or compression, just as the Artist intended it to be will be made available to Winamp Originals NFT owners in the future, via the player.
Earnings and Revenue Share
The revenue earned through the Winamp Collectibles program is based on a revenue share model.
You are entitled to 90%-95% of the gross revenue received by Winamp's distribution partners, depending on your Winamp subscription plan. The revenue share is always paid in the same cryptocurrency that has been used for the sales to occur.
Subscription Plan | Artist Revenue Share | Winamp Revenue Share |
Early Adopters* | 90% | 10% |
Essential | Not included | Not included |
Standard | 90% | 10% |
Ultra | 95% | 5% |
Enterprise | Custom | Custom |
*The Early Adopters subscription plan is an exclusive offer, available to everyone who subscribed to Winamp for Creators between 2nd April and 30th June, 2025.
There may be other fees or transactions costs when the revenue share is sent from the marketplace to the creator wallet. Winamp can’t be responsible for any additional fees or charges from any 3rd party (e.g.: non-exhaustive: the creator wallet, the blockchain service or the marketplace).
Similarly, the supported marketplace will be responsible for paying Winamp its own revenue share for providing the service.
Given the pseudonymous nature of blockchain, Winamp will provision the VAT for all primary sales. The applicable rate is 21%. To ensure both the marketplace sellers fee and the VAT is covered, the sales price upon listing (TOTAL) will be set as follows:
Given an initial price P and VAT v, then the cost is C= P+ vP= P(1+ v).
Given the vat price C and Fee f, then the total T is T=C+ fC = C(1+f)
For example
Given Belgium VAT tax of 21% and Marketplace fee of 1% then with a Creator initial price of 100 ; C = 100*(1+0,21) = 121 ; given a sales price of 121, including fees, Total sales price is 121*(1+0,01) = 122,21.
Revenue share for the creator is 90% of Creator Initial price minus 3rd party transaction fees or costs. Thus about 90 (initial creator price is 100).
Secondary Sales Royalties
If a secondary sale is made for your Collectible, you are entitled to 12.5% revenue share from that sale.
Royalties payment for digital assets are a web3 innovation that provides recurring earnings to original creators each time an NFT is sold on the secondary market.
At this time, the marketplace is responsible for the support and payment of royalties. For this reason, we've decided to work with https://rarible.com/ marketplace as they are truly committed to supporting royalties.
Please note this is a best effort, we aren't always able to guarantee royalties will be paid on secondary sales, but we will do our best for it to happen.
Revenue Reports
You will be able to find details of all revenue owed to you in the Wallet section of Admin tab in your Winamp for Creators account.
Your revenue reports and payments will be available in your Wallet once Winamp processes the earnings from streaming services and stores.
Payout Schedule
After your revenue is imported into your account, you can request a payout one month later.
Once requested, your payout will be processed between the 1st and 10th of the following month, ensuring timely access to your earnings.
